Privacy Policy

Hero & Color is a service designed for parents and guardians creating personalized coloring books for children. This policy explains what information we may collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is a product-level policy and does not, by itself, constitute legal compliance with any specific law.

1. Information we may collect

• Account information — email address, name, and authentication details managed by the authentication provider.
• Subscription information — plan, billing period and status.
• Book configuration — theme, story style, language and page count you choose.
• Child profile information — details a parent enters to personalize a book (such as a name, nickname, age, favorite color or animal). This is treated as sensitive product data and is not used for unrelated purposes.
• Generated stories and images — the story text and coloring illustrations produced for your books.
• Uploaded reference images — optional photos a parent uploads to help personalize the character.
• Usage information — aggregated, pseudonymous product usage events.
• Technical information — device type, browser and approximate locale needed to operate the service.
• Payment-related information — handled by the payment provider; Hero & Color does not store full card numbers, CVV or card PINs.

2. Data minimization

We aim to collect only the information necessary to provide the service. For example, a child's exact age is used only to help generate age-appropriate content; if you prefer not to provide it, you may create a book without it where the flow allows. We do not require unnecessary personal information.

3. Child information

Parents or guardians enter child-related information solely to personalize a book. Hero & Color treats child information as sensitive product data: there are no public child profiles, no public galleries, and child names or photos are never displayed publicly or sent to analytics services.

4. Child reference photos

If you upload a reference photo, it is used to help personalize the character for your account. Photos are stored with your account, associated with the correct user and book, and protected by authorization. They are not indexed by search engines and are not accessible through predictable public URLs. You can delete a reference photo at any time from Privacy settings, and deletion stops the photo from being used in future generations. We do not claim photos are never stored — they are retained according to the retention policy below.

5. AI processing disclosure

Hero & Color may use third-party AI services to generate stories, illustrations and coloring pages. We send only the information required to produce the requested output (such as the anonymized character description, theme and scene instructions). We do not send passwords, payment information, or internal identifiers unrelated to generation. We do not claim that third-party AI providers never retain data unless that has been verified contractually and technically.

6. Third-party services

The following categories of third parties may process information as part of operating Hero & Color:

• Authentication provider — Account sign-in, session management and account security. Data sent: Email address, hashed credentials, authentication tokens..
• AI providers — Generating story text and black-and-white coloring illustrations. Data sent: Anonymized character description, theme, scene description and style instructions needed to produce the requested output..
• Payment provider (Whop) — Processing one-time plan purchases. Data sent: Billing and transaction details handled directly by the provider..
• Email provider — Transactional emails (account, generation status and billing). Data sent: Email address and the content of the transactional message..
• Cloud storage provider — Storing generated images, PDFs and uploaded reference photos. Data sent: Uploaded and generated files associated with your account..
• Analytics provider — Product improvement and usage measurement. Data sent: Aggregated, pseudonymous usage events. No child names, photos, story text or private book images are sent..

7. Payment privacy

Payment card information is handled by the payment processor. Hero & Color never stores full card numbers, CVV or card PINs.

8. Analytics privacy

We do not send child names, child photos, story text, private book images or child profile information to analytics services. Analytics is limited to aggregated, pseudonymous product improvement events.

9. Private storage and signed URLs

Private assets — including reference photos, private book images and generated PDFs — use private storage. When you need access, Hero & Color issues short-lived signed URLs rather than permanent public URLs. Access to any private book requires an authenticated user who owns the book.

10. Data retention

Retention is configurable. Current defaults: reference photos are eligible for cleanup after 90 days of disuse, generation logs after 180 days, email logs after 365 days, and payment records are retained for approximately 7 years where legally required. Account data is retained while your account is active; you can request deletion at any time.

11. Your choices

• Manage email and marketing preferences in Notification settings.
• Manage privacy and consent in Privacy settings.
• Export your data from Privacy settings.
• Delete your account from Account deletion.
• Submit a privacy request (access, correction, deletion, export) from Contact.

12. Security

We use HTTPS for data in transit and secure storage mechanisms for sensitive information. We do not claim database encryption at rest unless the underlying infrastructure actually provides it. Access to private content is enforced server-side through authentication and authorization, not merely through robots.txt or client-side checks.

13. Privacy-friendly logging

We do not log passwords, API keys, full card details, full child photos, full story content or sensitive tokens unless absolutely required and securely protected.
