Child Safety
Our approach to keeping children safe.
Last updated: August 18, 2026
Hero & Color is a service designed for parents creating content for children. The parent controls the account; the child does not need an independent public account. Child information is private by default, child photos are private by default, generated books are private by default, and any public sharing is opt-in only.
1. Parental control
The parent or guardian controls the child profile, book creation, photo uploads, book deletion, sharing and account deletion.
2. No public child profiles
Hero & Color does not create public child profiles, public child galleries, public child names or public child photos. Books are private to the account that created them.
3. Safe content generation
The generation pipeline is designed to reject or regenerate content containing sexual content, graphic violence, gore, hate content, extremist content, dangerous instructions, illegal activities, extremely frightening content and adult themes.
4. Age-appropriate stories
Stories are intended for ages 3-10 and are generated to be positive and age-appropriate.
5. Image safety
Coloring images are designed to avoid weapons, graphic violence, gore, sexual imagery and explicit or disturbing realistic imagery unless a clearly age-appropriate harmless context applies.
6. User-generated prompts
When a parent enters a custom theme, it is screened before being sent to the AI. If a theme is unsafe, we show "Please choose a different theme for your child's story" and offer a safe alternative where appropriate.
7. Reporting
You can report inappropriate content, incorrect content, generation errors or privacy concerns from a book, page or image. Reports are visible only to you and authorized administrators.
8. Private books
Access to any private book requires an authenticated user who owns the book. Admin access is logged.
9. Child data retention
Child photos and profiles are not retained indefinitely by default. Retention is configurable and documented in our Privacy Policy.
10. Final principle
The parent controls the account. The child should not need an independent public account. Child information, photos and generated books are private by default, and sharing is opt-in.
